[Forrest Outpost, inside]

"Most of the SCE personnel just call it 'Forrest'," Thompson was
explaining. "A lot of our engineers have taken to 'Frankenstation',
because of the way it was built." Gravity was still off as they pushed
and pulled their way in Evo Suits across the bulkheads and through dim
corridors to the Command Centre. Thompson reached the Engineering
Station and powered it up. Eerie lights flashed across his helmet visor
as he waited, suspended in air, for his system to warm up. "But since
it's named in honour of Maxwell Forrest, I prefer 'The Max'."

It had been a while since Suzanna had last been in an Evo suit. It
had been back on the Valiant when she had been Chief Engineer herself.
Still, once in it again, it was like no time had changed, she could
still move as well as before. Now watching Thompson she felt a pang of
envy with regards of the old job she once had.

As it was, it was also a while since Ivanov had been in an
environmental suit, tending to only inspect ships when atmosphere had
been restored or from an inspection pod. He had become to much of an
administrator, but that was bound to happen considering he'd become head
of the SCE. Of course, it did give him the luxury of making himself the
head of the Forrest Outpost's SCE team.

The console's chime was broadcast over their proximity channel and
Thompson looked back down and worked his gloved fingers across the
switches and keyboards. "Thompson to Engineering," he called.

"Engineering," came the reply over their helmet comms.

"How's she looking?"

"Good to go, Sir."

"Very well. Prepare to engage gravity plating throughout the
station."

"Aye, preparing gravity plating."

Thompson looked to all present and nodded for them to secure
themselves.

Suzanna had been floating right behind Nate, watching over his
shoulder. She positioned herself vertical and held on to the console
with a gloved hand, and then nodded that she was ready.

"This shouldn't be to difficult. We've got a regulator to keep things
from going totally crazy," said the Russian as he used a console to gain
leverage and actually plant his feet on the soon to be floor of the
command center.

"Engage."

"Gravity plating engaged."

The Command Centre didn't change except for the inhabitants slowly
falling to settle on the deck. Thompson felt all the weight of the suit
and it took him a moment to adjust.

"Ooff..." Suzanna sighed as the weight of the suit pulled her down.
It was as if someone pushed on her shoulders.

A brief grunt from Ivanov as gravity took it's full effect. The suits
where still heavy, even when made of the lightest materials to be found
that could do the job in question.

"Engineering," Thompson called again, "you still with me?"

"Aye, Sir. Gravity is engaged throughout the station at 0.98G."

"Good. Seal all bulkheads for Engineering and the Command Centre and
begin Life Support ventilation in those areas."

"Aye, Aye, Sir." The door they entered closed behind them and
moments later a short mist blew through the vents. "Life support
procedures have begun. Oxygen rising quickly. Currently 40 percent in
both areas and temperature is rising to Starfleet standard. Pressure
adjusting accordingly."

"I'm reading the same," Thompson replied. "How's the mix?"

"Nitrogen-oxygen at appropriate levels. We're looking good, Sir."

Thompson looked up from his console and addressed his Captain.
"We're up to 70 percent O-2. Good enough to take our helmets off,
Captain."

Suzanna nodded and took a deep breath, then raised both hands towards
the back of the helmet and released the clamps. With a hissing sound,
the pressure equalised and she lifted the helm off. Taking another deep
breath and exhaled, this time of the Forrest air. The cold in the
Command Centre made her breath visible as it condensated, she smiled and
patted Nate on the back. "Good work, Commander. How soon can we do get
life support up and running everywhere and this place warmed up enough
so we can work here?"

Thompson was setting his own helmet on the console and rubbing the
sudden cold from his nose. "We can flood all essential areas
immediately, keeping a close eye on the pressures until Commander Ivanov
and I are satisfied. If all's well... say, 8 hours until we're capable
of sustaining life beyond the station proper. Temperature will fall in
line accordingly."

"Thompson to Engineering," he called.

"Engineering, go ahead Sir."

"Secure all corridors and crawlspaces between our positions and the
airlock. Engage life support for those areas and prep Medical, Sciences
and Armoury for the same. Then begin boot-up procedures for all systems
in the Command Centre. Welcome to Forrest Outpost, people."

"Glad to be here, Sir," came the happy reply. There was cheering in
the static behind the voice.

"Well Commander, Captain, I hope your pleased with your station. We
should have the final pat downs done in a few hours. Once the main
computer is online we can fire up the weapons calibration software for
your armoury folks and I'll be happy enough to declare the station
online and defensively capable." The SCE officer was looking around the
command centre as he spoke, admiring a few things here and there.

"And Commander Thompson will verify it before you and your teams
leave here." Suzanna said and nodded to Ivanov. "Good work from
Engineering Command as well, thank you. Please pass that on to your
team, Lieutenant Commander." Suzanna looked around the Command Centre,
it was still dimly lit and only one console was powered on. "I'll inform
the department heads that we can start moving stuff in in eight hours.
We'll keep staff on the Freedom to be ready to defend if need be until
all defensive systems are fully online. Nate... Let's start making this
our new home." Suzanna place her hand on his shoulder for a moment and
nodded, then headed off back to the shuttlepod that brought her here.
